History
Jijenge Micro Business Solutions was founded in 2015 as a table banking organization aimed at fostering a savings culture among women's groups.
We started with five groups, with our first being Obulala in Samia Subcounty, Busia.
In 2018, Jijenge was officially registered as a company under the Companies Act of Kenya (Cap 488), transitioning into an informal microfinance institution serving various parts of Western Kenya.
Our journey began in Busia town, with our first branch located at Amukura House. Over time, we expanded, opening additional branches in Bungoma at Megon Plaza, and later in Sabatia-Butere, Kakamega, and Oyugis.
We continue to expand our footprint across the larger Western region.
By 2021, we had grown to serve 5,000 members across 400 groups. As we move forward, our growth strategy remains focused on meeting the evolving needs of our clients while expanding our reach.
Our objective
Jijenge's primary objective is to organize small business owners and start-up entrepreneurs into groups of 10 to 30 members who are already engaged in table banking or merry-go-round systems.
We provide training and extend small loans to these groups, while ensuring ongoing follow-up to maintain compliance.
Our strategy
Jijenge aims to promote collective fund pooling through facilitation and knowledge empowerment.
By bringing together like-minded individuals with a shared financial support goal, members contribute to a loan guarantee fund.
Jijenge partners with these groups, providing funding that can be loaned to individuals as working capital or invested in group enterprise projects.
